Reminder: Charcoal grill policy

Our insurance company requires Woodlands residents to follow a policy on the use of CHARCOAL grills that conforms to International Fire Code as follows:

  • Charcoal grills shall not be operated on combustible balconies or within 10 feet of combustible construction. This will preclude the use of charcoal grills on decks and anywhere within 10 feet of any of our buildings or where sparks can ignite the woods.
  • Gas/Propane grills are not impacted by this policy, but if residents use these, the Board recommends placement of fire-proof tiles or mats below and on the wall behind the grill, and that residents place the grill as far from the walls of the buildings as possible. Placing a gas grill on the cement porch downstairs, away from the building, is the wisest choice.

Please help us keep the Woodlands save and our insurance premiums low by following the above guidelines.
